Today was my only free day for a ride this week. It was a bit grey, but it stayed dry. I rode via Terregles, Shawhead and Dunscore up to Moniaive, and then westwards across the moors to Carsphairn. Some hellish potholes some of the way. Not a very good day for photos, so I just took a couple:
The big hills are the northern end of the Rhins of Kells: Meaul and Black Craig, I think.
Then a nice brisk run homewards from Carsphairn by the Ayr-Castle Douglas road.
I agree about the Jubilee Bonny. A mate of mine, now sadly deceased, had one and kept putting it in my garage without asking. No idea how he got a key, but I used to take it out again every morning
Today me an Mrs Mouse headed down the Fosse Way to the Cotswolds for a ride and to visit Snowshill Manor. It has been more than a year since Mrs Mouse last rode on the bike and that was when we attempted the same trip last spring but only got 20 miles before the ECU failed! This time all went well except it was too hot in the sun and Mrs Mouse’s knees were giving her grief from the riding position.
Today I rode about 40 miles to meet a friend in Kidderminster who has just started her biking journey, there are some nice roads from Hereford over that way so it was very enjoyable . We met up and then went just 3 miles together for a very nice coffee and a chat and 3 miles back again and then I came home the long way round via Shobdon for a total ride of 123 miles. Now I have to go to work for the night .
Yesterday was a good day to ride out on the old ST1050. As long as I have so much fun on that bike it will stay in the garage along with the Honda.
Compared to the Honda, the thing that I miss on the Triumph are better brakes. Maybe I’ll go for a bigger master cylinder.
Gorgeous summer evening spin last night. Over the tops to Lowick, then up the East side of Coniston to Ambleside. Two of the gang wanted chips so we went to Bowness which was full of people on the lash, and we were treated to a dreadful singer blasting out from one of the bars. Should be charged with mass murder for what he did to those songs!
Didn’t get many photos despite the light and views being stunning.
Yesterday, Helmut and I went out with two friends on a half day Magical Mystery Tour run by me. I lead the way on my Street Triple, followed by Helmut on his Tuono and our friends on their ZX6R and ZX10R. I ride with very few other people as I like to just relax and enjoy and not think about how others are riding around me, however the folk on the Kawasakis own a local riding school and in fact I was their first Mod 2 pass once they started working for themselves .
We had a great day out, even if I pretty much took us green laning for a mile or two after a small geographic embarrassment . Someone did take a photo and a video of us all, however I have failed to secure either .
Took the Scrambler to pick up Dad’s ashes from funeral directors then took him on a trip around the lanes from Ulverston. Think he enjoyed it even though it was a Triumph rather than a 650 Norton
