Bad time for Tesla Drivers

Yes, science isn’t finished, nor is it in universal agreement.

I’ll be dead before the ICE is…
I’ll be happy if I get another 10 years of riding 2 wheels, and not that much more on 4. In any case it’s doubtfull I’ll be buying brand new of either in that time, so the current restrictions goverment proposes are irrelevant to me personally, but I do feel sorry for my children. However there’s plenty of time for changes of government and their policies (they do have a track record of changing their minds).
Damn, I’m supposed to be ignoring this pointless debate. :joy:

Again I would pick up on your choice of words. Results may support their theory or hypothesis but proof takes a lot of work, including being able to independently reproduce the results. You have to be very cautious about throwing the word ‘belief’ around inthis context as it’s frequently misunderstood, which adds to the misconception many people have about the scientific method.

As you know, science is a method, a process, a way of trying to get at the truth. The whole premise is thet you have an idea, create an experiment to test that premise, then continue looking for ways to disprove the results. It assumes that all results are flawed - that’s how it works!

Too serious for me :grinning:

We’re overdue a new ice age (no, not the movie). Global warming may actually be preferable to the alternative. Just saying.

I believe… that though we are both dancing around the minutiae of a spur in the above conversation, we can both respect the ideas proposed by the other regarding the scientific method.

I believe it has its flaws; as you say, it’s starts with a specific hypothesis (some might call that a belief) which goes on to be rigorously proven or disproven, the proven being published and peer reviewed as a theory. However, the publication of one’s own disproven hypothesis is a much rarer event than the successful… failed hypothesis and/or data collected which fails to prove that hypothesis, is often being discarded in one fashion or another (like not being exciting enough to be published).
But while one is trying to test a hypothesis, completely unexpected and often accidental results can lead to new discoveries. Just imagine how much important data has been discarded because the results did not fit the initial hypothesis of one experiment.
Also, there is often a “softening” of scientific theories when transferring from a controlled environment to a global system. What appears true and repeatable in one context may suffer environmental or systemic manipulation outside of the confines in which the theorem was “proven”. So when some “hard fact” sciences become embroiled in social engineering, there are always going to be levels of “truth” and “belief” to the applicability.

But that’s just my belief… :kissing_heart:

After reading though your theory I beieve you are correct.

My theory on EV’s is that they are Betamax and VHS will be along shortly. Betamax worked for some and so they were prepared to buy them, but in the end everyone will have to buy VHS

You’re talking to a man who bought a Sony 2000 system in 1984…even less successful than betamax.

After reading your theory, I am word blind…… :joy:
I can’t even spell hypotatoefaeces…

Possibly the best description yet

I bought Betamax machine only for VHS to overtake it and eventually kill it.

That’s not my experience

Which bit/side?

Some interesting stuff for anyone thinking of taking the EV plunge.

I think the other point worth noting is that it was from Nov 2021. A lot has happened since then!

There have been moments where both EV and ICE owners have probably wished they owned the alternative, panic buying at petrol stations due to supply issues, fuel prices then rocketed. Thankfully fuel cost has come down ever so slightly.
Electricity prices have risen, more choice of electric vehicles are available. Price of Tesla has been reduced not checked other manufacturers.

Cost of living overall has risen so much. Will an EV really be the top of anyones list at the moment citing the environment unless it clearly saves a person money? Sure there will be some but a minority at that for various reasons.

I actually found the above in a link from this article, which has only just been published. Again very interesting

I’d say its on the right kind of lines to my mindset. Of course there are exceptions to the rule.

Another interesting thought is when u have family and friends that visit with an EV and they want to charge up their fancy car at your house it can soon get expensive. Thankfully not too many visit from far away. Be even better when u have children driving ev’s that still live at home.

Suzuki developed this in 2010, all gone a bit quiet since then. 140 mile range even back then.
