About 26c in the valley at the moment Colin. I was out in a mesh today, fine higher up, but sticky lower down.
The advantages of getting there by car.
Only one set of kit (textile waterproofs) here, ventilation zips not making much difference.
Edit: actually two sets - we’re not sharing.
The mrs felt a bit off this morning so decided to stay in. I didn’t . I set off for the Passo Pordoi, altitude 2239 metres. Great ride up, stunning views
The other side was a looooong way down, with loads of hairpins. Not difficult though. From there I made my way to the Passo Fedaia, altitude 2057 metres.
There’s a dam there, which was frighteningly empty.
Going down the other side the views were incredible.
Only about 60 miles, but fantastic riding.
That lake is magnificent
Next some dinner. Smoked duck carpaccio…
Followed by bavette (mrs.) and venison.
All washed down with a nice Chardonnay…
I’ve heard some pet names in my time…
Your Mrs never stops scoffing
True, but she’s still slimmer than you and me mate (assumtion at your part, I know… )
Today we went off to one of my bucket list items, being the passo San Boldo. We first conquered the passo Pellegrino (no pics, didn’t stop), and from there proceeded toward San Boldo. Nice roads, a bit hot at 30C lower down… got there in the end though.
We then went for lunch… pasta alla Genovese
Heading back we had a view of this: (pic nicked from t’ net)
120 miles, mrs. knackered, but very proud of her. It was pretty challenging at times.
Good day yet again.
I remember seeing a video of people racing gravity karts down that, what a bit of road!
It’s incredible Andy - if I work out how to post, I’ve got some videos of it.
You can upload to YouTube etc and link to it in a post now. Coming soon-ish is posting to Vimeo or YouTube directly from the forum.
There’s clever, even does the speed in the bottom left… have to be careful what gets shown…
We set off this morning to do the same route I did last Tuesday, but this time together. First leg up Passo Pordoi.
At the top - quite busy…
We took the cablecar up to the summit of Sass Pardoi, 2.950 metres altitude.
Whilst going up we could see the road we’d taken up.
Once up there the views are pretty impressive.
We could also spot the road we were going to ride down:
Just en route.
Next stop, the dam at Passo Fedaia.
And “home” from there.
Thats F’ing stunning Man I need to do another euro trip. Living the dream, good on you
Yep another ace ride report Wim. So pleased your trip is going well.
Not a lot to report today - nasty weather in the mountains, so not a bike day.
We woke up to this, after a heavy thunderstorm overnight.
Temperatures down to 15C, and strong winds. So we decided to take the car and go to Bolzano for the day.
On the way there we even had snow(!) still on the roads.
Bolzano was basking in sunshine though, so we had a pleasant afternoon just not doing very much at all.
Forecast for the weekend and next week is favourable, sunny and 22C.
