No harm having a day off the bikes. Good planning to have the car along
It being weekend we did not want to go up the high passes - teeming with wannabe Vale’s, pushing like mad.
So we opted to do our Monday ride reversed.
We stopped again at the covered bridge.
Next stop Passo di Lavazè, altitude 1.808 metres.
Then on to the Passo Costalunga (1.753 mtrs), from which we turned onto the Passo Nigra (1.688 mtrs) where we stopped for refreshments.
Back up and down from there, onto the Costalunga again and home.
Great ride in great weather.
A nice route today, a bit further South from where we are, avoiding the Sunday crowds on the high passes.
The road you see in the ridge opposite is where we rode earlier.
Definitely wine country:
Todays ride, 100 miles.
That looks very good Wim. Was it steaks all around.
Cheers Steve - yep, excellent steaks with a fresh salad. Scrumptious!
Can you be trusted with naked flames and sharp knives?
Passed your lake (Karersee ?) on the way in this afto, amazingly looks just like your photos.
Yep Karersee - amazing, innit?
Today I had a route for 4 passes prepared. First the Passo Rolle, which was gorgeous.
Unfortunately the road up to the second pass, the Campolonga, was closed today.
So we were forced to head back via Passo Fedaia.
We stopped there and had lunch before riding home.
Still a nice enough ride.
Wow the cheese and meat board looks fantastic
A day off the bikes, but a nice late afternoon meet up for a couple of beers and chat with @Col_C Colin and Chris. Very pleasant indeed!
Next time drinks on us!
You meet the nicest folk on this forum.
A #@&%ing long way for a meet-up though!
Can’t believe you didn’t invite the rest of us!
If you get here tomorrow afternoon…
(But it’s your round BTW )
Today we set out again for a 4 passes route.
From Canazei we went up the Passo Pordoi, alt. 2.239.
We then proceeded to the Passo Campolongo, alt. 1.875.
Next was the Passo Gardena, alt. 2.136. absolutely stunning views and road.
Then a fairly easy ride up to Passo Sella, alt. 2.218.
