Solicitors! Sold our house in October '21 have had 5 completion dates come and go, latest one is 13th of june, fortunately not a Friday, unfortunately I’ll be in hospital having back surgery which has also been postponed once. Ours and theirs Solicitors have made a proper shit show of this, having moved house 30 times this is to be our last and it has by far been the worst…Grrrrrr
30 times !!! FFS. You must have spent most of your life in turmoil. ![]()
Not turmoil really, just life, other than moving to England with my parents, they were all by choice, I’ve lived in Australia, Canada and China too.
I think that is falling outside the “First world Gripes” standards! This is supposed to be a look at the petty little things that really irritates, but is next to nothing really and as such, makes us recognise the humour in such folly.
Yours is a real world, aneurism popping situation… and is difficult to mock without genuine offence being caused! I have been advised to ask for an immediate retraction and apology! You’ll be hearing from my solicitor in the morning…

I’m that one, that annoys my wife, son, daughter… everyone around who knows the actual lyrics.
Guilty
I can’t think of anything more stressful @PatW . Me and the wife have moved six times and that was and is more than enough. The thought of moving now fills me with dread.
Very used to moving around so thats not an issue as much as not knowing when and not being able to control it ourselves.
Yes, I understand the feeling of no control in those circumstances, particularly if you are used to being in control in the other aspects of your life.
People posing to get their photo taken while staring into their own phone. What’s that all about?
4 day BH weekends that seem too short… ![]()
The lady in the red Mazda 2 I encounter pretty often on my commute when I am on the later of my shifts. I am assuming from her registration plate that she is called Ann. She waits at a junction that is at the foot of a steep hill on a fast road…even if I am the ONLY vehicle in sight so NOTHING in front and NOTHING behind me and barrelling along (whether on my bike or in my car) she pulls out JUST as you get close to the junction. She pulls out suddenly but s-l-o-w-l-y, forcing you to brake, gradually makes it to 20mph and then starts agonisingly slowly proceeding up the hill. Thankfully there is an overtaking lane after a few hundred metres so you don’t need to stick at 20mph for long but it drives me mad!!! The first time I wasn’t anticipating it so ended up braking pretty hard and letting her know what I thought…but I honestly don’t believe she even noticed
. At least I know what she’ll do now when I see her so it doesn’t come as such a shock…
Loving the diagram for full illustration. ![]()
I had a similar, if less regular, experience some years ago. I was on my way to work one damp, autumn morning when a small van pulled out of a junction forcing me to brake. Rather than apply the stoppers progressively I let the bike roll up close to the back of my annoyance and jabbed the front brake, because that would show him.
Unfortunately, the front tucked and before I knew what was happening I’d hit the desk. Two guys stopped to help me put the bike on its feet, neither of them the van driver, who hadn’t noticed. I rode the last mile or so to work rather tentatively, parked the bike, gingerly got my bike gear off and duly worked my day in the office with a very sore shoulder. It was only some weeks later that I noticed a bump on my clavicle and I figured out I’d broken my collarbone. Lesson learnt.
You are so right, that is really annoying. It happens often when I’m in the car and on the bike. I do sometimes wonder what the drivers are thinking about, as it is not what is going on in front of them.
Quite common, I think you see it more often when on a bike. I had an accident caused by exactly the same thing on the way to work one morning, they left it so late pulling out the front of the car hit the side of my bike. Every time I’m approaching a junction now I’m always easing off and covering the brake. Even weave about if theres a car waiting to pull out, it makes you much more visible!
I agree with you on movement @Andyc1 . I always move out slightly when approach vehicles waiting to come out of junctions, watch the driver and any movement of the wheels.
When I was on a blood bike shift (so he could certainly see me) approaching a petrol station a bloke waiting to leave looked like he would pull out in front of me.
I slowed and we made eye contact but he still pulled out very slowly, put up his hand and then waved me past!
What a tw*t! ![]()
Have you joined you local blood bikes now you have moved Yorkshire Steve?
Not yet, I’m in no rush - not sure I want to do night shifts through a Yorkshire winter! ![]()
Can understand that, like you say no rush.
