Andy went for the steaks. As with all our food and drink cost when on tour we share the bill.
Arrived back home at 12:15hs today. Not had chance to complete the last few days of our trip yet, I will over the weekend
Nice one! That was a lengthy trip… you lucky men!
Day 9, a run around three of the towns close to the gite. We started by heading to Domfront in the Orne area. A lovely town where we had coffee before exploring.
Really nice Steve. Those little French towns are lovely.
Day 9 continued…. We then headed to La Ferte Mace in the same area. We had a soft drink in the square before moving on.
We then moved on to Lassay-Les-Chateaux in the Mayenne area. We had a quick look around, but didn’t see anything worth note, so moved on back towards the gite. On the road we came across a large lay-by and stopped to oil our chains.
We then stopped at the local village and organised a table for our last dinner in a local restaurant, before moving on to the gite.
We got on the bikes at 7 o’clock and rode to the restaurant. Our evening meal was lovely washed down with a couple of pints of 1664.
Day 10…… We set off from the gite heading for Cherbourg via Sainte-Mere-Eglise. We spent the day at the village square and the American War Museum. A great day was had with a cod fish dinner before heading for the port.
The progress through the port customs is painless and before we knew it we were on the ship dumped our kit in the cabins and had a couple of beers in the bar.
Getting off in Poole was also very easy and we made our hotel within 35 minutes.
A full on day required a good nights sleep.
Day 11…. Heading for home. We left the hotel in Poole at circa 06:00hs The ride up the motorways and A34 was a real slog. We had a couple rest stops with a breakfast of bacon buttie and cuppa at the services on the M6 toll road.
Fed and watered we said our goodbyes and set off for the final leg of our journeys. I had circa 60 miles to home and Andy closer to 100 miles.
In summary we had a great trip on some fantastic French roads, and visited some lovely places. The baby tiger performed brilliantly. Having finished the running-in process on the way down to Poole, so once in France I was able give the bike some real beans and it did not disappoint.
Lucky buggers
Sounds like you two had a great trip Steve. Thanks for the reports!
Sounds like France was good to yous then. Good to see customs was easy
Looks like you both had a fantastic trip and got really lucky with the weather!
Glad you two had a great trip. You visited some lovely places and probably ate too much good food!
Looks like the weather was decent too and now the Tiger is properly run in.
Sorry I couldn’t join you but as you know I was travelling between Vienna, Prague and Berlin at the time!
I got home just before 2:00 pm Steve. I stopped at Sandbach services for a good rest, something to eat and drink and get petrol. I hate those long motorway slogs but thanks for the trip you’re a great riding buddie.
Agreed!
Nice one guys… making me itchy for the continent! But you’re right about coming back… those are the most frustrating and disappointing miles of any European road trip
Ditto that. We’ve done a number of trips together and I have enjoyed them all
That Morecame and Wise would be my choice
The kitchen in the gite was a little like that at meal times lol
Well done you two. An excellent summary of your trip. Any chance of an itinerary ?
