Thought I’d say “hi” over this non-Triumph side …
Got a battered 1993 NTV650. It was cheap (good ones go for getting on 2k now!) and that’s because this isn’t a good one . Up close you see its been badly over-sprayed…I mean why take the engine out (or anything off of it if you’re gonna paint it, right )…and the gently dented tank just add to the patina.
It’s a bit like a scratch card…as, every time you rub it some of the black paint comes off to reveal the original red…
It sounds meaty with the after market exhaust and has a subtle pop on the overrun.
I haven’t managed to find neutral yet…
I ride it home in the dusk…with my finger on the flasher button to give me headlights,.as they weren’t working…spent an hour trying to sort the electrics…until I realised these “old bikes” actually have a switch to turn the headlights on! Never have I been so happy to be such a burke.
Weekend I was busy with oil and filter change, new clutch cable, setting up the clutch pedal to my liking, fixing leaky tubeless tyres, fitting working indicators…
Next weekend is full caliper overhaul, new braided hoses , air filter and plugs and coolant flush…
I simply love this bike. It’s so basic. It’s like a punk. It gives no shits…and puts a smile on my face everytime I use the choke to start it!
