Well your textiles don’t owe you anything at 15 years old. What do you plan on for your next set?

Probably need to ask for recommendations here :slightly_smiling_face:
Really need to try them on too, which makes life difficult down here in Cornwall (used to live in Nottingham 20 yrs ago so no problem back then).
Often drop in to Bridge motorcycles in Exeter on our several visits a year to Notts, they have Dainese (I have their leathers) and a few others. Damerells is fairly local but no quality stuff last I looked, I’ll have a look what’s available in Plymouth too, or Nott’m next time we’re up.
Strangely the old textiles feel a bit too big now, have they stretched with age?
The leathers are telling me I certainly haven’t shrunk!

I have had Rukka kit for a number of years now. My first suit lasted 12+ years and is still keeping the water out apart from the pants that leak around the crotch. My latest is Nivalo 2 suit, not the cheapest but imo the best textile kit on the market. :grinning:

Funny how they all leak there, not a pleasant experience.

Just had a look…
At the price… gulp. :grimacing:

I splashed out on Rukka a while back and haven’t regretted it. Even when my jacket became too big I was able to sell it and get a good price allowing me to buy a smaller one with only minimal cost.

I bought some kit for my lad at Damerell’s few years back. I was in the market for some new leathers but, as you say, they didn’t have any Alpinestars, Dainese etc. I suppose they’re stocked for the Cornish economy.

Yes, it is frustrating, as you say for the Cornish economy. However things are rather polarised, there are plenty of well off down here too. There’s an unfulfilled market, I’ve been chatting to the boss at Ocean Falmouth BMW about it, they’re only quite small at present and only stock BMW branded kit (which isn’t cheap).

Can you explain this to SWMBO? :joy:

It is funny, my wife came with me to J&S when I was looking for a new suit. It was her who convinced me to buy the Nivalo 2 kit ( you are right on the cost). The down side was the jewellery that it cost me the next time we were on holiday. Method in her madness lol.
So the morale is get the Rukka and then treat her to something nice. It works every time for me :grinning:

I suppose I’d better drag this back on topic.
So the ride down the E side of lake Garda yesterday was fine as was the weather, but the S end is foul and the ride and weather went likewise until arriving at Lago Maggiore. But later in the evening the rain eased as did the mood. A stunning place when the weather plays ball.

And so today was a ride through the Aosta valley to Annecy (sucker for a tourist trap ).
Some nice scenery on the way…

Glaciers getting ever smaller.
And we’ve not seen as many fields of sunflowers this time.

And so to Annecy…

And Coots nest building on a boat.

A day off tomorrow, then a couple of nothing special days riding up to Roscoff to catch the ferry home.

In truth the leak is on the inside

I’ve got Rukka too, though if you are going to ride in hotter climes also consider the Klim stuff as the ventilation on my Rukka stuff isn’t the best, though it is 7 years old now so things might have improved since then
Whatever you get make sure it’s the pro gortex laminate, not the cheaper z liner stuff. Also if you can find what sizes you want check out places like fc moto in Germany as even after paying vat to import them it still could save you a fair wedge.

Bloody great lump of stone on these poor tortoises back shouldn’t be allowed!..

Do you know anything about the boat, Colin? It’s unusual: wide beam, low freeboard, and lug rig. Where was this taken?

It’s moored at Annecy, just Googled the name and found this.

The unusual rigging interested me, must look spectacular in full sail.

Now I see it with sails up it’s not a lugger but a sort of lateen rig. A Mediterranean thing.
