Today I have mostly been

Stacking logs . Had some delivered by our local log man. £100 for half a cubic metre but to be fair I think it was more like a metre he gave us. Lovely old boy and that is his only income. I’m sure if I shopped around I could find them cheaper but these are well seasoned and cut to fit the log burner.

That and chopping logs are very therapeutic. More benefits of a log burner :slightly_smiling_face:

Thankfully “Bryan The Log “ does all the chopping…! Everyone in the village knows him as “Bryan the log”- but no one knows his real surname…

Perhaps we could divert him to the basement of 10 and 11 Downing Street……!

Trip to the tip and general sort and tidy up in the garage for the winter hibernation.

Strange stuff that I keep on the shelves for some reason - you can’t quite see but there’s a Wildcat tail rotor blade on there that saw action with 657 sqn AAC in Afghanistan with the SBS. :upside_down_face:

Best not to push your luck.

And at the start of the supply chain my son is a self employed forester and gets £25/m3

Knock yourself out. :joy:

Are those genuine WW2 German helmets?

WW2 rusty relics that I’ve restored. Done quite a few of them, of all nations, mostly to order to commemorate family members, battles or units. I don’t do that sort of stuff any more but kept two or three for myself.

This was the usual type of thing I did. Obviously Guy Gibson on this one, went to a distant relative in Australia I think. :slightly_smiling_face:

My wife’s uncle was a bit of a ‘boffin’, and worked on the bouncing bombs amongst other things.

657 Sqn AAC never had Wildcat, they had Lynx Mk9A’s before they were disbanded

I’m pretty sure it’s a Wildcat tail rotor blade. I suppose it could a be a Lynx. I’ll get it out tomorrow and have a look. I was given it when I left Yeovilton by a Major in the AAC who was also based there.
I’d done some stuff for the CO of 9 Regt AAC on a Lynx rotor (or is that a Wildcat?), Middle Wallop HQ on an Apache rotor, Junglies’ SeaKing Sqn 848 rotor etc. They’d given me the appropriate stuff to paint on and told me what they were.
He could have been having me on I suppose. Sorry chaps and chapesses  false info - I’ll check next time I see him.

I notice they all want a good feedback after you’ve bought insurance, “How did we do today?” Bollox to them, they did well at taking my money but I’ll give them some honest feedback if I have a claim and not before
