We’ve just been to see Jurassic World Rebirth and that joke was better than the film, so forgiven.

Today I will be at my 90 years old Dad’s funeral after he passed away on 24 July. It will be the most basic funeral as he wanted no flowers, no black to be worn, no donations and he only wanted Amazing Grace on the way in and Time to Say Goodbye on way out. He was very strong willed and not the easiest guy to get along with but was devoted to my Mam who doesn’t remember us telling her that he died due to dementia. RIP Wilf

A difficult day. Life can be hard at times. I don’t know what the word is for a brief, firm handshake and an understanding nod but there it is.

A difficult day mate, especially as your mam is unable to understand what is going on . My thoughts are with you and your family at this horrible time.

It’s never easy and it’s probably not any comfort to you but grief is the final act of love - so if you hadn’t loved you wouldn’t grieve.

Your dad had good taste in music - hope it’s Bocelli’s version of Con Ti Partiro!

Condolences.

My sympathy @Dawsy .

A difficult day but a weight will Be lifted once it has taken place.

A day to remember your father.

I had the exact same in reverse when my mother died and my dad was also suffering from dementia. The funeral was a difficult day.

Once the funeral over and my dad kept asking where mum was, I just said she was in hospital rather than repeatedly saying that she had died.

Thoughts with you mate .

@AdieP Yes it is Bocelli!
@Oldskool That’s what my Mam believes. After talking to the staff at the care home, and our own beliefs, we are not taking her to the funeral. We have a lovely picture of them both at Laxey Wheel to be displayed at the Crem and the celebrant is going to talk about their love and her absence. They would have been married 69 years yesterday :blush: Thanks for all your support.

Home again now. I was fine until the curtains closed at the Crem. Everyone said it was just what he would have wanted, no frills, no fuss and out! Good catch up with family and friends at a local pub. One of my cousin’s daughters sent me this picture of my Granddad’s sister from 1931. Would love to have met her, apparently she was nuts and didn’t give a toss!

The same cousin just messaged saying I had done my Dad proud which brought on more tears

Sorry to hear of this sad moment @Dawsy, lost my dad last year and he’s a hole in my life… never lived in each other’s pockets, but then… we didn’t need to! Proper Urswick lad.
Take those great memories you have, and keep them chugging away in your life

A sad time for you and your family @Dawsy . As @Oldskool says it’s better/kinder to keep your mom in the dark about your dad as all it’ll do us cause her unnecessary upset. My thoughts are with you
