A lap of Coniston on push bike. Very wet in places due to recent heavy rain but beautiful.
And a stop at Herdwicks Cafe, thoroughly recommended and discount if you are on a motorbike ![]()
I must revive our map one of these days. It’s interactive now, doncha know! ![]()
Lots of updates and whatnot coming when I get a bit of time nearer Crimbo and don’t have to spend so much time figuring out what happened today and writing about it.
Looks very quiet for Coniston!
2 posts were split to a new topic: New bike on the way
Didn’t really know where to post, but as a heads up… the gritters are out in Cumbria
Have you forgotten how to start a new thread? This isn’t WhatsAop, you know…. ![]()
I know how to make a thread, but it is just a minor piece of information barely worth a thread… and it happened today
Just walked the dog, and saw my car is frosty… Won’t be long before salt is on the roads…
Oh my. We are forecast to have snow this week, so yep definitely the salt is coming very soon.
Nipped out on Scrambler this afternoon for an hour and a gritter passed me going the other way ![]()
It’s baltic here at the moment. At this time of year, my desire to go out on a motorbike ride somehow evaporates. ![]()
Yup, pretty nippy here, too…
The Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge, North York Moors an hour ago (not taken by me I hasten to add). My bike in same carpark in October
So our biking days are now going to be few and far between. ![]()
And chilly in the middle.
Well, over the years, we can ride much more than it used to be.
10 years ago, we had frequent snow falls over there, over 30 cm, from end of October up to end of February, and the bike was usually stuck in the garage for 2 months. I can remind my son and the kids in the neighborhood taking his sledge up and down the fields around. It’s now all over. Even if we have snow, it’s for one or two days, a couple of centimeters and as it melt, I ride the bike.. That’s the only positive effect of the climate change.
