Honda CL500 and CB500F at St.Fillans on a day ride around Stirlingshire and Loch Lomond National Park.
Very nice too ![]()
The salesman at Honda told me those CL500 are selling fast, not as I thought to young riders, but more to seasoned ones that want something easy, light and fun.
That’s me! ![]()
Booked the MV in for a service and MoT, which ran out today just as summer arrives in full force. Because fo the stupid Bosch ABS problem that causes the rear brake to lose pressure I’ll have to wait for the service to be done on 11th July so they can sort it out and get it through the MoT. Bah! ![]()
Bad luck mate or is it bad planning ![]()
Bad planning and bad engineering. ![]()
that’s a good summary for “Italy” ![]()
It was yesterday but got out on the Multistrada for a few hours. Met up with a couple of mates at Crossgates then routed through the Elan Valley down to Aberystwyth for an ice cream at the seaside. We then bomb burst in our various directions so had a slightly more spirited ride home ![]()
Afterwork ride to put more km on the Honda before the first maintenance (8th of July).
A nice 100 km (60 miles). I’ve let down high pass to ride along the Lac du Bourget and the Lac d’Aiguebelette. More traffic than on my usual run-in roads. Around lakes and mountains, no “alternative” roads, so people going in one direction are all there.
Had a little rear tire dance at the start (oil drops on the road, bl…dy tractors), without bad consequence apart I felt like a pilot for 3 seconds ![]()
Apart my almost painful iron butt, that Honda is really confortable and easy to ride.
I love the vertical twin grunt. Reminds me my former big mono bikes, with more torque and a smoother power delivery.
The seat will be worked on sometime before we seriously hit the road later in the summer.
The NT1100 is a bike I bought by reason, and the more I ride it the more I find the fun hidden under a dull appearance.
So already 750 km, still need to put an extra 250 km, knowing that I will not ne able to ride on week ends (concerts, friends meeting etc…)
Good news .
It seems the more you ride the Honda the more you like it and understand it. A great outcome. I think that’s going to be a keeper ..!
Yes it’s a keeper.
Not sure it will beat my former BMW K100 RT I sold with 188 000 km on the clock, but will try to put a lot of ride on the Honda.
I fitted a new Wunderlich screen extension to the R nineT Urban GS today. I don’t love it but I do hope my ~4 hour ride tomorrow will have a bit less buffeting at 70 mph (ish)![]()
Not particularly pretty, no - but if it serves its purpose, who cares? ![]()
This weekend Helmut and I went to see both sets of parents; we planned to bite the bullet and go on the M5 on the way there as I had finished nights that day (Friday) and Helmut was working until mid afternoon. It was BOILING hot and we filtered for what seemed like a huge chunk of the journey - thank goodness for motorcycles as cars were well and truly stuck for hours. I have to admit to being VERY hot and grumpy though !
. Lots of considerate drivers and a few thumbs - up from van windows etc. Still, the motorway is always my very last resort on the bikes…
We had planned to come back on a nice interesting route on Sunday, however absolutely biblical rain, being later away from his parents than we had perhaps anticipated and the fact he then had to drive back to work when we got home meant that we took the motorway again…and again did plenty of filtering, although nowhere near as much as the trip up there.
About 430 miles done in total and at least I got to use my birthday gift from my stepdaughters and their other halves - I can confirm that it is indeed waterproof and very handy!! https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/649396
My beautiful Fireblade has been admitted to an inpatient facility (local mechanic!) after a wait of several months to see what the slow oil and coolant leaks discovered during the MOT are about. I am missing riding it very, very much, especially in the gorgeous sunshine!
My dealer said my Speed Triple was leaking coolant, and suggested it might be a faulty head gasket - expensive fix. I consulted my friend Google and various S3 sites, and thought it could well be (it being 20 years of age) the radiator cap being spent. Ordered one for €12, fitted it, and after what’s now over a week riding in 30+C it hasn’t lost a drop of coolant. Dealers… ![]()
Not sure I want to hear what this might be. Both are minor enough that the mechanic said I could ride it and watch…but it’s not going to get better so needs looking at…
I know what you mean - I’d be gutted if my 20 year old Speedy were to need critical (read expensive) surgery. I’m still very attached to that bike…
Honestly, I love it! I know it’s a machine…
