Does that make you a MAFIL? ![]()
Probably
. Been ages since I have ridden my pushbikes at all - I had some fractured vertebrae that makes getting in the drops quite painful!
I have ridden all three of my bikes today, so have put it in the “non Triumph” section, seeing as two of them are!
Firstly, I did 110 miles on my Street Triple and visited two new cafes for Bike and Brew Passport stamps. I am enjoying discovering new places:
First stop was Talybont Stores:
Second was the barge at Pontymoile Basin:
I would visit both again.I then took my Hyperstrada a few minutes down the road for some new boots. I am trying Michelin Road 6s for the first time, I will not be sorry to not have the Metzelers on any more - I loved them in the dry but hated them in the wet!
When I went to get my tyres fitted, my beautiful Blade was waiting outside - it had had a leaking rocker cover gasket, which is now replaced and hopefully all in full working order again. One of the owners is a friend of ours, so she came to collect me in the car after I took the Ducati home to be able to return and fetch the Blade. It was lovely to ride it even the very short distance home for a few minutes via a friend’s place and put it back into its rightful place in the garage (even if all three of my bikes need a good clean!) !.
You’ll love them - I’ve got them on my S3, after having had Road 4 & Road 5. Great tyre.
Dilemma today, scrub in the new tyres as I am excited to see how they are or ride the Fireblade as I haven’t been on it apart from 3 miles home yesterday since the leak was discovered in April. Nice dilemma to have
.
Monday actually….! A hilarious ride into Groningen, a few beers and a lovely lunch. At our age we chose the e-bike route. It seems no matter which way you cycle there’s always a head wind. Not sure we obeyed all the Dutch cycling laws but we all got back unscathed…!
I take it you enjoyed Assen then… ![]()
Unbelievable. The 100 year display of old bikes was superb.
Will put a post up here somewhere when I get a bit of time later today, hopefully. Just a brilliant weekend. 9 guys together with the same sense of humour and interests.
When you get the right mix of people you could be inside a cardboard box and not stop laughing.
Add in Holland, bikes, beer and chips…what’s not to like ?
Did you have the shopping baskets taken off the handlebars to save embarrassment? ![]()
Last of the Summer Wine European Tour 2025 ![]()
For some strange reason they had a single sided pannier on each of them … played hell with the aero and even worse with my OCD ..!
A post was split to a new topic: Back on the Blade
TDM got an oil and filter change today… I had pleasantly forgotten what a stupidly designed oil filler it has, just a few degrees above the horizontal! You can’t even use a funnel on the job… so I spent 20mins syringing Motul’s finest into the yellow peril, promising myself (just like I did last time) that next time I’ll buy one of those corrugated hose filler cans jobbies! ![]()
My brother is visiting from Canada and rented a Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 so we could have a 4 day tour around Scotland.
Wet first day through Glencoe and Fort William to an overnight in Newtonmore.
Dry second day playing around the Cairngorms before heading east to an overnight near Alford in Aberdeenshire.
Third day was almost sunny (!) and we rode south through Ballater, Braemar and Glenshee to an overnight in Feuchie, near Glenrothes.
Final day was spent at British Superbikes at Knockhill. We managed the sidecar feature race and the first Superbikes race of the day… then it poured down, so we went home!
480 miles of fun though! ![]()
One last photo from my brother’s visit - a local rideout with our cousin and her husband stopping at the David Stirling Memorial (founder of the SAS) before a big get together with many of our other cousins.
The Royal Enfield goes back tomorrow, and Iain heads home to Canada. Some great memories made! ![]()
Looks like a great time. Glad the weather was mostly good for you !
Yesterday, first service (1000km) for the Honda NT1100.
Took only 1 hour, so I could wait.
Not impressed by the dealer. As the bike was delivered, I noticed a missing screw under the seat, then noticed the onboard tools were almost all missing..
The workshop guy told me the tools were probably missing from the importer (Honda France). First time they have that, and it’s on me ![]()
Anyway they ordered a set of new tools, it’s now fixed.
I bought the bike paying for “confort passenger pegs” end of March. They should have been mounted at the first service, and … They didn’t received the parts they say. I guess someone forgot to order them. So now I told them I need the pegs asap, and I’ll mount them myself.
I’m not the guy that will rage on google review, but Honda France sent me a “satisfaction enquiry”. I just related facts, and ticked the “send your answers to the dealer” box.
Looks like they try to help, and made a 15% rebate on confort seats. Let’s say it’s ok so far.
The bike itself is faultless. Bad that they have high quality products and ruin the buyer’s experience being unorganized.
On Tuesday before my first night shift I just did a local ride of about 80 miles on the Blade, stopping at Shobdon Airfield for lunch. Perfect!
The food looks very good.
