As of tomorrow two wet day are forecast, but it looks better after that. I will probaply be able to take the Tiger out next Saturday, as my insurance restrictions are lifted on March 1st…

Do you pay reduced insurance over winter then on the proviso you do not ride?

I do - I get a 15% discount if I don’t ride from December 15th to the 1st of March. Worth having, especially since I have the Speed Triple to ride if the weathers good.

Picked the better of the 2 days this weekend, a lovely 250 mile round trip to collect my last Welsh Landmark. Into the Snowdonia National Park to Porthmadog. Cracking, empty roads and top temperature of 13C ( very briefly). Bike still running like brand new after nearly 21,000 miles, as expected! Massive piggy breakfast at Churchstoke, coffee in Porthmadog, a spirited blast over the northern road to Bala and a cuppa tea at Welshpool aerodrome. Home very tired at 6. Into the bath for a quick freshen up and shave. A one mile walk to the local social club for a brilliant covers band, a few pints and Into bed for 1AM. Not bad for an old 'un. Oh yes, we were out to see a band in Stourbridge on Friday as well. Yawn…

Nothing, because the weather’s foul. @Dave49 will be happy! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::rofl:

Today I performed the annual oil- and filter change.

I also fitted new indicators, as the old ones had packed in after 6 years.

As spring looks like its sprung I thought I’d make a start on a long list of maintenance tasks. For this week, the front end is getting a new tyre, brake pads, brake fluid and fork oil…

Springtime sticking clutch plates after sitting around for the winter.

Kicking sometimes isn’t enough to free the plates (as in this case). Starting the bike would probably give them the jolt to free them but shooting off over the horizon isn’t fun.

With insurance restrictions lifted on the Tiger it was time to take it out for the first time this year. I did a run to a bike shop 30 miles away.

Not here it hasn’t, although our daffodils are out, which is promising.

Finished this week’s bike maintenance which included some experiments with rear shock disconnected so I could finally settle for myself the non-linear relationship between wheel movement and shock compression. Also tested how chain sag varied over movement so can make sure I don’t have my chain too tight.

This all took longer than I hoped due to my trolley jack sprouting a hydraulic leak necessitating a trip to Halfords for a new one. Then whilst coming back from there the car decided to throw up a engine management fault :frowning: (Guess it’s been one of those days.)

Anyway, bike all ready for a sunny test ride tomorrow

Clutch all back together after a clean and a soak

the plates don’t look like Norman Hyde - I can’t remember where I got them maybe MAPP but hardly any wear at all. A bit of cable and pushrod adjustment and the clutch is all smooth and luvly again. :slightly_smiling_face:

Quick check of tyres etc before first run out tomorrow! :slightly_smiling_face:
I changed the tank pad, November I think, and bike has been under cover since but it doesn’t appear to be sticking properly. Any recommendations for a suitable adhesive?
I cleaned the area with contact cleaner before putting the pad on and used a hairdryer to warm it up a bit for bending.

Slight change of plan, decided to just go for a short (25 mile) test ride to check bike is OK so I could come back and book three nights in Wales starting Monday. (Fingers crossed the sunny weather forecast comes true.)

Must say I’m not enamoured with the whiskers on the new tyres. When they were made in the UK I’m sure they came pre-shaved.

Edit. I thought those tyres reminded me of something, just realised what it is, Desperate Dan’s chin! That takes me back a while…

Finally, someone else who doesn’t like the whiskers on new tyres! The Bridgestones on the Blade came with them…

Whereabouts are you going in Wales, I am planning on being out and about a lot if the weather forecast is to be believed and do most of my riding in Wales. My rest days from work this week are from tomorrow, starting back to work on Thursday. We could maybe meet for a coffee if you felt like it? (I don’t mind at all if you don’t!!).

I’m staying near Builth Wells and was planning on lunching at the Owls Nest Tuesday and/or Wednesday. Can meet up other places that are more convenient. Send me a PM and we can try and arrange something
