What You Been Doing With Your Triumph Today

This has inspired me to just go into the garden for some photos, the light’s fading, however you get the idea…spring is definitely here. Add to that the beautiful dawn and sunrise I saw this morning when I was at work and birds singing and I remain firmly optimistic despite the temperature dropping to -5c .

Will do - I go to the Owl’s Nest a fair bit as loads of my favourite routes are around there - nice access to the remote phone box and Abergeswyn Common, LLyn Brianne etc. I am sure you already know all that though :slightly_smiling_face:. I am sure you’ve route planned but I do know some good ones if you need any.

I am also under an hour away from Builth Wells. I’ll send you a PM tomorrow and we can see about a meet.

I was wondering whether he might be afraid to meet me, given my track record of mowing down wildlife…

I have been checking the valve clearances on my Speed Triple, and wondering why Mr Triumph uses so many different types of fixings? Allen bolts, torque bolts, ordinary bolts, fancy clips etc.

I changed the tank pad, November I think, and bike has been under cover since but it doesn’t appear to be sticking properly. Any recommendations for a suitable adhesive?

Apparently Saul has half a tube of out of date Araldite he can sell you ….

Today I took the Tiger to the dealer’s to have a new rear tyre fitted as a result of the recall. Free coffee, free tyre, what’s not to like?

Today I have been on a blast of about 170 miles around the Beacons and beyond on my Street Triple…I rode to the newest Baffle Haus at The Old Post as I have been meaning to visit for a while, then headed back towards home via the Rhigos Mountain and Brecon which is a route with a few lovely roads. The road from Penderyn back to the A470 is always a treat, flowing and twisty and smooth like a track, lovely although there are rogue sheep and ponies to keep you on your toes!

After having a new rear tyre fitted I took the Trophy out to make sure I’d attached the wheel correctly. Always the best way to test at speed! It went straight when wanted and around corners when needed and nothing seems to have fallen off, success?

I stopped in at Triumph Woburn to have a look at the tiger sport 800 and the speed twin 900.

I thought the grey 800 was ok but the blue one and the yellow one looked pretty tacky with the bright 800 on the tank, however what do I know, definitely not for me though.

I preferred the speed twin 900 though.

but then wandered to the T100 and it just looked so much better than the speed. Oh well, it was a nice ride out though still too much salt and crud on the back lanes.
I also tried some different settings on my gropro and thought it looked better with less contrast and saturation. However it hung at the start and wouldn’t power on until the battery was pulled/replaced so I guess it’ll be a problem for me for as long as I keep it.

Funnily enough I was up the road for lunch at Fratelli in Woburn .
Didn’t drop into the Triumph shop as last time I was there no one could be bothered to speak to me …
If you ever fancy a pizza or Italian whilst you are in Woburn I can highly recommend this place …!

I do like pizza and other Italian dishes so thanks for the recommendation.
I know what you mean about Triumph, I wandered around for a bit and not a peep from them. Then again I probably don’t look like the perfect potential buyer as I’m not in the most up to date or expensive kit and I pulled up on a 23yr old triumph… However I remember many years ago I used to regularly visit Hughendon M40 Triumph and BMW dealer and got great service (I did a lot of miles and so needed to visit frequently), so recommended them to a friend. He said they just ignored him so he left and never went back!

My speed triple is coming up for 20 years this may, and the dealer’s actually wanted to part-x it last month… No way, I told them… :grinning:

You must be better dressed!

Actually last year I had a chat with them about the tiger sport 660 and they made the point that they didn’t want my trophy but worked with another company they’d ship it out too. I did think why tell me that, why not just get a price and take it, what they do with it is up to them.

I sometimes park up at Fowlers for a cuppa on bikes from 40 to 50 years old and no one bats an eyelid. I think they only know they are Triumphs because it’s written on the tank.
