I refitted a bluetooth headset to my helmet today so I could use it with the walkie-talkies my friends and I are going to use to coordinate riding on our upcoming Spain trip. I also bought a dead cat for the mic so thought I’d make use of the nice weather to test things out.
Unsurprisingly the lack of space in my helmet meant the dead cat tickled my lips so that had to be removed, also the phone recorder app I was trying to use to sample audio quality stopped recording whenever phone was in pocket, so audio test was a failure.
Still, a 100 miles ride in nice weather is never a wasted day
Enjoying the much improved fuel economy of the new Bonneville. Seem to remember having to switch to reserve at around 125 miles on the 2004 T100 - and the warning light would come on at about 120 miles on the 2012 SE, and then allow around 150 miles.
Today I rode to Halfpenny Green (Wolverhampton Airport) to see Lee at TriumphTech for my Street Triple’s service. Always a pleasure to see Lee and the only “extra” that the bike needed was a new set of rear brake pads .
Took the Sprint out for a run to Harley Davidson in Leeds on their open day. Somewhat underwhelming but it was a pleasant evening for a ride, and a decent pint back to finish.
Today I cleaned the rear brake calipers in an effort to stop pads from rubbing, and whilst I was fettling the bike adjusted chain and lubed clutch cable and throttle grip, and topped up engine oil, now everything is in a pristine condition for the Spain trip in two weeks.
As it was sunny I went for a few hours ride including stopping off at the Triumph factory which was quite busy. There was even the odd Triumph parked amongst the bikes.
Plan a 2 day ride that week end with my +40 years german friend on his trusty BMW 1100 GS. Last “long” ride was with Wim, with one day under rain. looks like friday ride will be wet again.. So I finally decided to order a new front tire..
Blue skies, temperatures in the 20’s and no wind.
Riding jeans, T-shirt and leather jacket. Open face helmet, sunglasses and goggles.
Fast roads, windy roads, narrow roads.
Verdant spring countryside with the last of the may blossom on the hedges and clouds of sweet smelling cow parsley on the verges. Dandelions with the odd splash of bluebells and red campion for colour.
Occasional assault of the senses from searing yellow rape and it’s not so sweet smell.
7 hours, 220 miles.
No pictures, I’ll let you imagine a perfect day’s riding.
The Bike and Brew Passport event started today, so I had a short sleep after I finished my night shift and had the honour of being Bringsty Vintage Cafe’s first stamp . I also went to Sally’s Place in Malvern, so about 90 miles today as I chose the scenic routes.
I took my speed Triple to the dealers as it wasn’t running quite right after they reset my dash a few weeks ago. It transpired the throttle valves needed synchronizing, which they did. Runs like clockwork again, and no charge! What’s not to like? (I forgot to take a picture, but it DID happen…)
I took the Daytona out on a 50 mile run with my mate on his Monster, stopped for coffee and came back to a flat battery A combination of the fan running because of the hot weather and a 10 year old battery perhaps
No photographic evidence but just picture 2 ~60 year old blokes bump starting a bike down a slight hill
