What You Been Doing With Your Triumph Today

Back in the 90’s my mate came over on his 600 Kwakasakikacki for our 1st run of the season. Igets the Blade out of the garage, puts my gear on goes to atart it and… nope  never had any problems before so just expected it to start after a lay up as the VFR always started first time. So he pushes me down the road in full leathers on a hot May day watched by some kids playing football who started cheering him on! At about the 3rd or 4rd attempt it fired up so I rode back to the house, locked up, got on the bike and… it ran out of fuel. Luckily I had some in a can for the mower so used that to get me to a garage. He thought he had enough so didn’t fill up as he never had enough money. Anyway off we went and he soon pulls up by the road side after trying to go for an overtake as his bike wouldn’t pull. We stopped at the next garage and he filled it up with fresh fuel and it was ok after that so the petrol must have been going off, so it was an intetesting day out. I bought an optmate after that.

Just out of interest, is there some connection between resetting the dash and the throttle bodies or was it just a coincidence?

It must have just been a coincidence, as one has nothing to do with the other - but they fixed the isue without charge anyway…

Had a ride out to the Lakeland Motor Museum as there was a classic vehicle ride in and show all day. I obviously timed it wrong. There was a Peugeot 205 GTI rally car and a Ford Escort there  I walked around the building in the hope I had missed something but alas not. Ah well, home for a brew and a bit of pottering :slightly_smiling_face:

Sounds like their definition of ‘classic’ is getting stretched a bit…

2 posts were split to a new topic: Le Mont Revard,

I have new waterproof over trousers I bought last year that I was hoping to test properly before touring Spain. All spring I’ve been keeping eye on forecast so I could deliberately go for a wet ride but the only couple of times we’ve had proper rain has been over night.

As I’m due to set off on Sunday I though I should at least go for a ride today to check comfort and warmth of all the riding gear I’m planning on using, Spain is looking to be cooler and damper than UK and rest of Europe :frowning:

Today turned out nicer than forecast so ended up having a longer than planned test ride

I took my Trophy out today to look at a BMW R1200RS in a local shop. In the process I had to fill up, I’ve been using Tesco Momentum 99 for the last 3 fills along with a dash of redex petrol treatment. I checked my mileage after and it said a whopping 49mpg. Now those who know these 4 cylinder bikes know how uneconomical they are. For the last 20-odd years I’ve been getting 40mpg pretty consistently.
So was it an error (next fill up will confirm), does the bike just run better on this mixture? Or have I just got old and slow? I know I complain about loud pipes waking me up and people speeding past the house plus I don’t understand the kids of today and things were different in my days…

Yesterday I made use of the lovely weather before my night shift and did a bit of stamp collecting for my Bike and Brew Passport, I met Helmut at the Silver Fox Cafe as he was riding his Nightstorm home from work and we went to the Oily Rag and then back home together. About 130 miles done on the Street Triple.

This morning I took my Street Triple and Helmut his Tuono, we went the long way round to HR4K and then a convoluted way to Shobdon for a spot of lunch, 82 miles in total in absolutely gorgeous weather. There were some lovely Triumphs at Shobdon :slightly_smiling_face:.

No photos but nipped to Sportsbikeshop Preston to try some new boots and riding jeans. Straight there and back so nothing exciting but I haven’t had so many bugs splattered on my visor for years! Anybody else noticed lots of bugs?
My purchases being delivered tomorrow

Yep, I said exactly that about the bugs to my partner on my return. Only difference is they’re on my fairing not my visor. I’m happy but also sad about it at the same time.
