What You Been Doing With Your Triumph Today

Actually Saturday, (it’s been a busy weekend) but I may have successfully cleaed out that fork seal. Pumping it a few times didn’t leave tha telltale ring so fingers crossed. I’ll nip out to the garage later and double-check.

Won’t be till next year that we go to Europe now, but the above posts prompted me to do a bit more research regarding the helmet stickers. It seems that the rule doesn’t apply to foreign visitors (unless the helmet was bought in France). Anecdotally it seems even the majority of French residents don’t have the stickers, and I’d guess that’s likely the same for visitors from neighbouring EU countries. Obviously it’s personal choice whether you decide to run the risk of arguing the toss with a gendarme but having just spent a fortune on new helmets for me and SWMBO I won’t be plastering them with tacky stickers. Technically they’re supposed to be non-removable so likely to cause damage when trying to do so.
The breathalysers I bought for our last trip are now past their use-by date, not sure I’ll bother replacing them as apparently it’s a weird unenforceable French law.

That is good to know regarding the stickers. Thanks for posting.

I purchased the Eurolite stickers today and looking through the extensive instructions there is no mention of motorbikes, but every car you can think of.
So here is the question; has anybody ever used the stickers on their bike to correct the headlights when touring in Europe?

The weather forecast for this week (and next) doesn’t look very inspiring, so thought I’d get out today and make the most of the blue skies before the clouds rolled in later…

I suppose you’ve checked you actually need them? Many bikes just have up/down dipping, no more dipping to the left (or right).

As per @Col_C , headlight on bikes don’t seem to dip l or r anymore?
As for the stickers, i bought different colour ones (red for me) as you can hardly see them.

Got another cheeky 100 mile in this afternoon bringing the tally to 350… wee bit of grass tracking. Oh and a comfort seat was won on ebay :slightly_smiling_face: 100 mile on this bike and I’m starting to get a tired back side, the 3 times I’ve ridden it.

Where’s that pretty bridge?

Banbridge, Co. Down. A little place called Corbet. Nice little spot on the river Bann on one of my biking routes.

Bikes don’t have a specific UK/EUR change , they just light in font of the road.
It’s only useful on cars that light on the shoulder of the road. As in UK you drive on the wrong side :grinning: , you may blind incoming drivers.

That’s what I do, Black stickers on a black helmet. Still looks ok, and no fine.
By the way, no policemen will arrest you because you don’t have the stickers, or don’t carry the yellow jacket.
If they arrest you for something else (speeding, etc), then they will check all the stuff.

I’ve been trying to improve the comfort of my trophy and one thing I’ve noticed is that the seat is always pushing me forwards into the tank. So I got the original seat out of the attic as I’d replaced it with the comfort seat 20 years ago. Took the seat covering off to expose the foam and started reshaping it flatter at the back. Put it back together and took it out for a test ride. Comfort is better, I think I could take more off to improve it further. However it hasn’t stopped my wrists hurting which is what I’d hoped it would. Still undecided whether to spend money getting it comfier or just replacing the bike. No rush though as I only need something for camping two up and that won’t happen until may next year at the earliest. I’ll use my meteor for everything else.

Got my 600 miles done today. Lovely day it was too!
That is Coneen ghost house on the hill, if your into ghost stories you can give it a google.

There are loads of lakes in this area too, all up a labyrinth of forest gravel roads.

150ish miles, most of them on rough bumpy country roads. The wee Bonnie is pretty good at this sort of thing.

Have you considered adjustable bar risers to get some “up and back” movement?

I’d not be going upon there at night :grimacing:.

Perfect weather you have over there today too - the Bonnie does make for a lovely photo.

I didn’t go up to the house today, but I see the windows and doors are bricked up now. I was there before 3 or 4 years ago and went inside. Strangely my freshly filled zippo completely dried up after that leaving me wothout a light :thinking:

Spark plug out, dip bit of paper in fuel tank, hold paper to plug and press starter, light fag, job done. Boy scout.

Thats very nearly what I did, the zippo still sparked so used that to light some dry grass that I dipped in the tank :+1:t2:

Yes, I posted a question here a week or so about trying to bring the bars back/up, bearing in mind it’s not just a handlebar but separate bars attached around the fork tops. I got some good advice but thought I’d try the no cost solution first. Thanks for the input.
