What You Been Doing With Your Triumph Today

@HelmutVisor and I went to the Nailsea Bike Show today - about a 150 mile round trip, good ride, great weather and a nice show. Pics over on the thread that @Iron started.

Trial run with my mate to see how his back held up. Headed up the coast to Bootle for a brew in The Byre Cafe but it was shut due to holidays  so went over Birker Fell which is beautiful whatever the weather.

Had a lovely sausage bun and brew at the Crosby Snack Shed on the top then back home through Ulpha.
No reported back problems which was great news :+1:

Left the New Forest at 4.00 am and headed the 160 miles to the tunnel. Cold, damp and foggy, especially the M26 bit.

Good few bikes making the 7.20 crossing - so not Billy no mates this time!

In Saint Valery sur Somme by 10.20am only to find there’s a cycle race on and it’s the last day of a three day Harley festival. This place is normally quiet :grimacing:

Great lunch though - look at this

Today @HelmutVisor and I went to Bridgnorth (about 110 mile round trip) for the Italian AutoMoto Club Festival - lovely atmosphere but extremely crowded to the point you could hardly move. Loads of beautiful cars there and some bikes too. I’ll add photos when the Club put some on their Facebook page so I can nick them as we were very lazy (again) in terms of getting any :flushed:.

Helmut of course rode his Tuono, given the theme!

I spent the day prepping the Sprint for a long weekend away next week, which also included a 100+ mile ride out to help stretch the new chain but that will no doubt need adjusting a couple more times as it settles in.

I have tools, spares and chain lube in the cavernous under seat space so feel ready for a few days away (weather permitting). :sun_behind_rain_cloud:

Was down past the peace wall this evening… erected to stop neighbouring protestants and catholics knocking the tripe out of eachother. They still lock this place up at night! Anyway jumped off the bike for a quick snap.

Not sure about that orange tank in the circumstances, Andy… :grinning:

“You’ve 5 minutes to get out”

Weather was good, so went out for a few hours riding. I found a ‘new’ road today, and at first pass I missed this sign…

Soon found out about ‘restriction’ though…

That’s a bridge across a stream and the middle 100 metres of the 3 mile road is that width. Aimed at cyclists and walkers I guess, but there are no signposts to prohibit motor vehicles, so felt few qualms about pootling along that bit at 10mph.

Commute for me today - my filtering game was strong; it’s something that I have been less confident with than other aspects of riding, but on the way there and back tonight I took (calculated) opportunities that I would not have done before so I am getting there!

Service on the Speed Triple today, so off to the dealer. I borrowed a Tiger 900 Rally Pro while it was in. I specifically wanted the Tiger 900 as it’s a bike I’m genuinely interested in.

Have to say I really liked it - comfy and quick enough. I was worried that I’d find the performance underwhelming, but while it doesn’t have the enormous shove of the Speed Triple, I never found it particularly lacking and overtakes were quick and easy - just shows that any bike with about 100hp is more than adequate for the road.

Only real downside was the height/weight combo. I’m six feet tall with a 32 inch leg, but I was on tip toes at a standstill, not a major problem but something to be aware of. I know the seat height on the Rally Pro can be adjusted between 860 - 880mm and don’t know what this one was set at. It was also noticeably heavier than the Speed Triple when wheeling it around.

I could never see it as a replacement for the Speedy, but as a daily rider it has loads of appeal.

It’s not the sort of bike that is going to give you that tingle of excitement when you open the garage door, but if I wanted to cover distance on a bike, it’s a very nice place to be.

If I did order one, it would be the Rally Pro in Khaki Green with the white frame. I don’t need the off-road capability but what the heck…

I was happy to get back on my Speed Triple though at the end of the day :grinning:

Went for lunch today with Mrs Mouse at Don Paddy’s in Uppingham. A very relaxing few hours riding in sunny countryside; helped by going 10mph slower than usual, braking earlier for corners, and avoiding the rougher roads out of deference to Mrs Mouse.

Commute again for me today, nice sunny weather and good rides there and back - means I arrived both at work and at home in a good mood :+1:.

These triumphs aren’t built like they used to be… these just fell out of my exhausts today

I do like the gold wheels! But I think they are only offering 1 colour scheme now :hushed: and the R is matt :rage:

I am back up in North Wales this weekend but on the new to me Sprint GT 1050. So far so good comfort, power and smile factor wise. :+1:

It’s definitely getting colder now though! :snowflake:
