What You Been Doing With Your Triumph Today

As Benson got down to -12c last night and Oxford isn’t that far, you did extremely well not freezing in 40 mins. I just stood around looking at the ice on the inside of our windows and doors and it only got down to -9.5c here!

Windchill isn’t such a factor when you pootle real slow! I think that that alone bought me 10 mins!

Hoping to get out today as the forecast was for sun and above freezing temperatures.

Instead we got snow, not much but the sun is missing!

Looking forward to Monday as 12 degrees is forecast and I’ll be out despite the predicted light rain :grinning:

Drying Them. They live in a garage, but with temps down to -9.5c over 3 nights plus never getting above freezing during the day and then the sudden jump today to near 14c, the bikes were soaking, actually dripping. I’ve never seen them like that apart from when they’ve been out in the rain. I’ve done my best and got a through draft going.
I don’t like having to dry a motorbike if I haven’t been out having fun getting it wet! :rage:

Same, and all my metal tool boxes and tools on nails…

This was the reason I bought a vacbag which the GS currently sits inside.

I opened our garage doors today after the thaw and the cars windows immediately started to steam up. Both cars were dripping wet with condensation within a couple of minutes as was the outside of the vacbag

Yes went into work today and my machine and tools were soaking… killed a good few hours cleaning everything and coating with silicone.

Another wet bike here too, it lives outside under a shelter and normally stays dry. Wasn’t sure if that was just the condensation, so investigated further and discovered the conservatory roof guttering above the shelter had it’s end-stop hanging off so water would just have flowed out. Thing is, there’s a bit of guttering structure in the way preventing the stop from ever fitting. Must have been a bodge job from before we bought house.

Thanks for posting this as I’ve just been outside to the shed as I forgot to empty the dehumidifier. Bike is now soaked but hopefully resolved soon as the dehumidifier comes on again in a hour. :ok_hand:

I can’t bear the suspense any longer. I’m going outside. I may be some time.

Edit: All warm and dry out there. :raised_hands:

I feel your pain, been there. My solution was to get a semi-industrial grade dehumidifier that lives in my garage loft. It blows the humid air out through the wall and distributes dry air through three ducts. Problem solved.

I haven’t been down to the garage to check if our bikes are wet.
They probably are.
They were last year.
And the year before.
And before that…
And… (you get the idea)
They’ll be dry in a few months time and they’ll be fine.
They’re clean, plastic, painted, anodised, oiled or stainless.

Dehumidifier is a godsend! I keep one in my shed, only because I have music gear in there but the bikes live there too. Never any damp or condensation, its great!

Just checked - yes, both bone dry… :grinning:

Mine sit in the bike store where we have the boiler and underfloor heating manifold. Hence they’ve stayed dry…
Bearing in mind one is Italian, it wouldn’t function unless it was above 50F degrees and bone dry…

Strange names for your bikes…

:joy:
If I had that many I think I’d be in trouble with SWMBO.
First year with the beemer, we’ll see how it stacks up against the Triumphs.
You’ve got me nervous with all your “boil in the bag” stuff, may be I’ll nip out with a roll of cling film

Looking good here as well. Not as warm as yesterday but it was dull and quite windy.
Today is 9 degrees and sunny - not decided where to go yet :sunglasses:
