and I wanted to have the 1000th post on “What you been doing with your Triumph today”. So thought the picture should be a pretty one (maybe everyone has seen it before - note the library in the phone box)
Rounds of applause to that there man @Octoberon - Saul, may there be 1000s more. Thank you…over
Productive day in the shed today.
Removed the Triumph heated grips and fitted Whites integrated heated grips. I found the Triumph grips small and didn’t like that they only had two heat settings.
The Whites grips, I think there sold as Koso grips in the Northern Hemisphere, have five heat settings, are larger diameter (32mm) and best of all the controller is integrated into the left hand grip.
Also machined up some custom bar ends.
Yes, they are called Koso Apollo in the UK
If I ever have to fit my own grips again I’ll probably use these to avoid the Oxford grips separate controller.
Beautiful day but cold, saw ducati and KTM man today, seems their regular spin out is the same as mine (but t’other way round). Camped out at mates gaff for warm up cuppa and a whinge about the economy.
They have put salt on top of the salt and sludge here. Really need a good downpour to clear the roads, they’re horrible (never thought I’d be wishing for rain a few weeks ago when that is all it did). A friend even washed out on his push bike it’s so greasy the other day .
Same here, it’s weird, paths are dry, fields are drying up fast but the roads are greasy… Maybe my memory is starting to fail me but I don’t remember it like this before, sometimes the roads were white with the drying salt but they were dry.
Decided to clean the Tiger…then decided that, as it’s “in-between ACF50 coatings”, let the ACF50 continue doing its job…so put the hose away and instead gave the rear caliper a winter clean…
Hold on to your hats everyone… There were no issues to ask for help about! I know, right!
Even the dreaded pad pins came out without any fuss… I was all done in about 45mins.
So cleaned and lubed and checked the chain.
Adjusted the clutch a little.
Removed hand guards to put new hand muffs on for our impending polar vortex…
Today I decided to take the Thruxton out of its vacsac and start it up.
It has not been out of the sac since October. To my amazement it started first press on the starter button. Listening to the wonderful twin rumble I could not resist getting my gear on and going for a ride. I had forgotten what a joy the Thruxton is to ride
When I got home I let the bike cool down, gave it a wipe over and put it back into n the vacsac.
A very rare winter ride for the bike, as normally it does not come out before mid to late March.
Popped out for a coffee at lunchtime. It’s cold but sunny and dry here. Was going to take the MV but the battery’s dead. I had the trickle charger connected but it wasn’t switched on at the wall - d’oh! You have to take the fairing and tank off to get to the battery on that bike; I’m hoping it’ll be recoverable.
So the trusty old Street Triple came out instead. That’s my first ride of the year. Most pleasant, if quite short.
Cold but sunny here with dry roads so took the Tiger out for a run to Staithes.
Have to leave the bike in the top car park and walk down so no bike pics.
Best time to visit now before all the tourists arrive in summer.
Excellent lunch at the Cod and Lobster
