Me neither, perish the thought
I resembled all of it apart from the littering!!
On my morning walk there was 2 inch of snow on the ground and more falling, but the thaw was already setting in. When the blue skies hit around lunchtime it became T-shirt weather so decided to wash the bike. Done 3 rides since last wash, so thought I ought to give it some TLC, for the sake of the chain if for no other reason…
Few minutes with toothbrush brush and it was looking much better.
I didn’t see much reason to get too thorough though, it’ll just get mucky again in a few days.
P.S. Afterwards it was almost too much to resit the idea of then going for a ride in the sun on the now snow free and dry roads Might have actually been a good idea before they coat them in salt again for tonight’s sub zero temperatures. (Ye gods, just looked at the forecast, -8C!)
Same here, snowing in the morning (2c) although not settling. Windy. Mid day clouds parting and sun making and appearance, warmed up to 6c. Didn’t clean the bike as I haven’t done the sort of winter mileage that you (@BrownMouse ) do. I did lube the chain as the appearance of rust for the first time this year had freaked me out!
Also got a flexible grease gun hose from toolstation and fitted it to my ancient wanner grease gun (from the 60’s? It was my Dads before me). Now greased the final part of the trophys suspension linkage. Yeah…
There were three chains in about that state at the bike meet Helmut and I went to on Sunday as we actually remarked upon it . The worst two were on 2022 bikes - the one parked next to mine looked completely unsafe as even the links were sort of zigzagged rather than straight and it could have been a six month old bike at the most from the registration plate. I would have been ashamed of myself parking it up
.
Theres a foot of snow on my driveway so the bikes, cars and the cats are not going anywhere.
I had a chain snap on my KH 250 when I was 17. It whipped right along the tail unit and seat just missing my backside! No reason at all to let it get like that.
Gold chains do look nice.
Never wear them myself - they make you look like a drug dealer.
Believe me when i say I have seen alot worse than that.
But if you are a drug dealer they look great.
This guy rolled along the road and stopped next to me, when he walked back to collect his chain from the middle of the road I took these photos. Maintenance didn’t seem to be high on his list of priorities
I hauled my trophy out of the garage today and heard a crack. Turns out one of the studs that holds the bodywork (side panel) on decided that 21 years was it’s limit and has sheared off at the base. Looks like I’ll need to buy some epoxy to reattach. Oh well, I suppose these things get brittle with age.
I then headed out for a shakedown ride to check all is well as it’s booked in for its MOT next week and I didn’t want any surprises…
Sort of a meta-activity rather than something directly with the bike. I renewed my insurance. Bennetts were this year’s winner with a quote of £101. BeMoto upped their renewal by £44 since last Spring and weren’t in the ballpark this time.
Following my visit to hospital yesterday for cortisone jab in my foot I took the Thruxton out for a couple of hours. Managed reasonably ok, so things are looking positive for the seasons riding
I took a short ride out this afternoon on the Speed Triple. After a seemingly endless winter, it’s not been ridden much over the past five or so months! It’s an awesome machine!
I’m planning on doing some touring this year on the Tiger and thought it would be good to be able to see if I could figure out how to track routes I take using Google Earth so I used todays ride out to experiment with it.
I think the result came out pretty well for a first attempt.
Man, that bike is fast!
You just reminded me, I have some information about making routes a bit like that. Now with Google Earth, I don’t think, but the same principle. I was looking at it as part of the Europe Down trip that’ I’ve had to postpone until ext year.
I reckon the Google Earth tracking would make a good ‘how-to’ post if you fancy pulling it together once you’ve got comfortable with the process.
Probably goes without saying but it would be wise not to post any video that shows your exact home start/end point.
Saul beat me to it with the first and last comments.
Nice work though, definitely interested in a “how to”
Try relive if you want to track a route. It gives you a brilliant little video. But just remember tracking a ride also clocks your top speed and where you achieved it etc.
Edit. Just watched the video… your way ahead of me
