Fine weather today so headed out for an hour or four on the country lanes. I found some new ones and enjoyed riding solo after the recent 11 days touring with pillion and luggage, what a difference!
A short boodle around local roads. Ended up in Bowness and fancied an ice cream but they had none of the flavours I fancied left😕 Back on the bike, next stop Roy’s Ices on the coast road at Bardsea for a lemon meringue waffle cone while the tide came in😃
Crap pictures as I never had my eyes on

@BrownMouse Is that a nuclear power station in the distance?
That was my photo @Iron
Yes it is, Heysham. Not sure if it is still productive. Bit of a blot on the landscape!
Commute for me on the Street Triple in lovely weather. Got caught in delays from an accident when I was a few miles from home (looked like no one hurt, thankfully but road was closed) but got through faster than most due to being on a bike and the kindness of a couple of lorry drivers and police officer .
Now I have been in the garage experimenting with fitting my new throw - over panniers to both bikes and reckon I have it sorted (fingers crossed ). Got these in the sale https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/281847
I have a tailpack that I have been using for the trips away we have had, but it takes an age to secure on the Street Triple due to the short tail and lack of anchor points (much easier on the Blade). Helmut’s tail pack has pretty much fallen apart so I thought I’d try the panniers and he can have the decent tail pack.
Beautiful day in Cheshire so it was the tigers turn for a ride out. Stopped at Broxton for a burger and and a brew. Got talking to a fella on a Honda 600 CBR who said here was an open track day at Oulton Park. Thought I could call in on my way home. There were 2cv’s and an assortment of other cars on track. Stayed for an hour or so before heading for home.
I remember that being built!
First thing today, before breakfast, I took bike to get it’s MOT. After breakfast I accepted insurance renewal quote. Postman then delivered tax reminder (two of them!) so I paid that (once!). Now I’m legal for another year and £396 lighter
Got a tax reminder for the Tiger and the Guzzi yesterday (that was bad planning on my part).
Sent in duplicate for some reason so four DVLA letters at once!
Maybe they’ve moved to Ireland (to be sure, to be sure)
I’ll get my coat…

Day off work for me. I rode my Street Triple to have the new Raximo adjustable levers fitted that I bought as soon as I realised what a difference they made having had them put on the Blade. Managed to time it perfectly for a huge downpour but at least I knew it was likely so had my wet weather gear on. It was just a bit of drizzle for the return trip, so not all bad - bike is still filthy though.
Ordinarily I would have just kept on riding but it looks iffy for the rest of the day weather - wise so I called it a day.
Taking a few bits off the bonnie for the trade-in… I swear shes sulking at me
Commute for me on the Street Triple; actually dodged the very worst of the weather for once. Must be because I had actually bothered to take my full waterproofs .
With my new open face helmet I can hear more noises from the bike and I noticed that under braking the front brake makes a buzzing noise, I assume caused by the vents in the brake disk. However, I noticed that the same noise has started to occur quietly even when brakes aren’t applied, which I assume is a brake pad dragging lightly on the disc.
So today I had calipers off for a check. Brake pad wear looked even, which is good, but as everything is mucky and rusty I decided to remove pads, clean pistons and polish the retaining pins and springs. Didn’t get chance for a test ride, but hopefully things are sorted.
Commute for me on the Street Triple, iffy weather but not shocking. Then straight on to our local bike night which was busy as the weather improved a lot, quite a few people there I knew - nice to get out for a bit with Helmut away .

Was taking a petrol tank off today and had a bit of an isuue
I was undoing the petrol tap and the bloody thing sheared off!
So, a nearly full tank (which I was trying to empty) was pouring itself out of the now nonexistent petrol tap all over the floor. I stopped the flow easy enough by sticking my finger over the hole.
But then stood there wondering what to do while I watched the paintwork soften and bubble up before my eyes. No one close enough to call to help, no bucket to hand. Poo bears.
Over the other side of the garage I espied an open plastic storage container. I unscrewed the air filter to give me some room below the tank and thyen ran for the container.
The hole in the tank was flowing like an open tap all over the place making an ever growing puddle of petrol.
Got back with the container and held it until the side of the tank with the broken tap was empty. Bloody hell the container was bending under the weight of petrol but at last it stopped. What a bloody mess!
Used a whatchamacallit to get the offending sheared off part of the tap out of the tank. It came out easy, I could have jammed a screwdriver in it to get it out.
Well, at least it didn’t happen out on the road as it was probably cracked and ready to go as it didn’t take much to break. Now the garage and me smell like an Esso station.
Sounds like the story of the Dutch boy with his finger in the dyke. (And we’ll have no inappropriate comments from you, @PatW.)
