When I had my '08 ST always noticed the gear change improvement with fresh oil, so “normal” for that era. I think Triumph have slowly improved their gearboxes over the years.
It already improved as I replaced the clutch lifter pin with the upgraded version.
I think the next step would be upgrade steel plates with small surface notches to retain more oil.

Cheers @Octoberon Never thought of putting it in the Rideout bit!

Went ahead to have the bike ready for next week.
Changed the 2 ball and joint articulations to have a more accurate gear lever.
Did a small upgrade with hard foam and a zip tie to keep the ball & joint greased.
Old ones.
New one.
Then I purged the rear brake on the Sprint ST 1050 it’s convenient to remove the battery to access the brake fluid container… Surprise on the battery
Looks like the heat of the exhaust on that side didn’t suit the battery.
I’ll ask Motobatt about.
I’ve now inserted an aluminium sheet as an extra heat shield (red line).
Having been to the hospital this morning where the mrs. was fitted with a walking cast I took her Trident to the dealer’s to have the frame sliders fitted that had been on back order.
How’s Jefta progressing? Was it left or right ankle, important if riding again any time soon.
What!! Are those OE sliders? Triumph managed to manufacture something without plastering their name or logo over it.
She has a walking cast as of yesterday, and has started fysiotherapy. It’ll be a long process to a full recovery. But for now mobile enough for me to go away for a week…
Yup, came with the deal when we purchased the bike.
Not quite…
I had a rare bimble into Wales today. A rare occurrence for me as the 20mph speed limit and cameras everywhere spoilt what used to be good riding roads.
Have passed many times but never stopped until today. The Old Stores cafe where I had a brew and bacon buttie, a very interesting little place.

Sad day today. I have ridden over to Shaw for Andypandy funeral. Waiting in a lay-by just off the M62 for @stevelovatt, who has just arrived
Good luck for later, I hope it goes as well as can be expected.
Picked it up from it’s service at a local workshop. Got it MOT’d at the same time. Wasn’t due until December but thought I would do it now instead of messing about at Christmas.
The guy doesn’t do the test himself but uses a local spot. Passed but with advisories due to fluctuations in front brake and noisy exhaust.
Nothing wrong with the brakes at all, ABS on the roller maybe, and the exhaust is completely standard.
Apparently every bike he sends there comes back with something! Tossers.
Not in Swarthmoor is it? My mot is due soon
Advisories, as well as failures, show up on the Gov.uk MOT history for that vehicle. Some of those reasons for non-compliance could put off any future potential buyers.
None of mine need an MOT any longer but I can still see their failures/advisories from years ago just by entering the registration number.
Broken light bulbs, horn not working, worn tyres etc shouldn’t bother anyone but dodgy ABS brakes, CANBUS wiring issues, emissions etc are beyond most riders these days.
Testers are aware of this and should be acting accordingly not showing off about how great they are at being a twat.
Take the bike somewhere else.
My old Fazer was 10 years old and had 15,000 miles on it and it had an MOT advisory on a worn linkage. I asked the mechanic whether I should get the linkage replaced, but he said it was showing slight wear in 15,000 miles but should be fine for at least another 15,000 miles. Why stick it as an advisory then!?
Definitely worth taking somewhere else next year to see if the advisories just disappear.
Glad we don’t have it. Moneygrabbing scheme, as far as I can tell. One’d be stupid riding around on an unsafe bike to begin with.
No, that’s where I should have taken it and usually do. Will stick with them in future!
Sounds like E and T motors
